Set Goals and Get a Wealth Mindset

If you think poor, you'll be poor. It's that easy, it's what we call a self fulfilling prophecy. If you keep saying, "I never have enough money" then you will never have money.

Conversely, if you think rich, you'll be rich. Tell yourself that you've got more than enough wealth to survive. Give generously and think of those less fortunate than you.

There are many ways to get yourself a wealth mindset, and I'll let you do the research. That said, I will give you one tip: Set yourself some financial goals. Then chunk it down and find something to do everyday that will help you get you toward your financial goals.

As an example, I will share some of my goals with you:
  • Save $200,000 for a home deposit in ten years time
  • Get savings capacity to 70% of my gross income
  • Have a net worth of two million by age 40
  • Have a net worth of 20 million by age 65
Every day I ask myself what I can do to achieve these goals. I do things like;
  • Maintaining a personal finance diary
  • Sharing my knowledge on a personal finance blog
  • Asking myself what I can do today to make money in addition to my current wages
  • Monitoring my spending
  • Monitoring my net worth
  • Celebrating every cent in interest, dividends and capital growth (because it all adds up)
Now these goals may seem ambitious, but keep in mind at the time of writing this I am on what you'd call an an average salary. What I have found is that by setting these goals I have prompted my subconscious to find more innovative ways of saving money, investing money and making more money. Now my goals are so clear and my conviction is so strong; I absolutely know that I will achieve these goals.

Ask yourself: Do I have clear distinct financial goals? Are they written down? Am I doing something every day to get me one step closer to my goals? If your not doing these things, perhaps it's time you had a look at your finances and set some goals for yourself.
